Amphenol Broadband BB1SP Coaxial Grounding Block with Surge Protection, 5–1002 MHz, F-Type Connectors, Zinc Die-Cast Housing

$16.95
  • INTEGRATED SURGE PROTECTION – A fast-acting bipolar gas discharge tube diverts high-voltage surges from the coaxial signal path to the grounded housing, helping protect connected subscriber equipment from transient voltage conditions.
  • LOW SIGNAL LOSS – Supports RF signals from 5–1002 MHz with maximum insertion loss of 0.12 dB at 5–200 MHz, 0.17 dB at 201–600 MHz, and 0.25 dB at 601–1002 MHz, helping maintain signal integrity.
  • DEDICATED GROUNDING TERMINAL – Accepts ground wire sizes up to 6 AWG, combining a ground bonding connection and surge suppression in one compact assembly for coaxial subscriber installations.
  • DURABLE METAL CONSTRUCTION – Features a rugged zinc die-cast housing and machined F-type ports, with a horizontal design that positions both coaxial connections downward for installation inside a premise enclosure.
  • WIDE OPERATING TEMPERATURE RANGE – Specified for operation from −40°C to +60°C, with a non-radioactive gas discharge tube, a nominal impulse discharge current rating of 10 kA, and a short-circuit failure mode.

The Amphenol Broadband Solutions BB1SP is a surge-protected coaxial grounding block designed to help protect subscriber terminal equipment from high-voltage transient conditions while maintaining reliable RF signal transmission. Combining a ground bonding connection with a fast-acting bipolar gas discharge tube, it diverts high-voltage surges on the signal path to the grounded housing, providing a protective interface for coaxial subscriber connections.

Operating across a 5–1002 MHz frequency range, the BB1SP features a low-loss RF signal path. Maximum insertion loss is 0.12 dB from 5–200 MHz, 0.17 dB from 201–600 MHz, and 0.25 dB from 601–1002 MHz. Minimum return loss is 22 dB through 600 MHz and 20 dB from 601–1002 MHz, helping maintain signal integrity throughout its specified operating range.

The integrated surge protection circuit uses a non-radioactive bipolar gas discharge tube with a nominal DC spark-over voltage of 230 V, a ±20% tolerance, and a nominal impulse discharge current rating of 10 kA. The device also incorporates a short-circuit failure mode. Its grounding terminal accepts ground wire sizes up to 6 AWG, supporting connection to the installation’s grounding system.

A rugged zinc die-cast housing and machined F-type ports provide a durable mechanical construction. The horizontal housing positions both coaxial ports downward, making the BB1SP compatible with installations inside a premise enclosure. Its compact configuration brings the signal connections and grounding terminal together in one assembly.

Specified for operation from −40°C to +60°C, the BB1SP combines low RF insertion loss, integrated surge suppression, and a dedicated ground bonding terminal for coaxial subscriber installations.
